I'm sharing with you some quilts that are quite ordinary, in a way, but also transcendent, even spiritual, thanks to their ability to communicate and inspire across generations.
Color: prints or solid color fabrics?
Do you prefer prints or solid color fabrics? If you're unsure, one solution is to stick with solid color fabrics and/or blenders where the color appears less uniform because the fabric has a "textured" look.
Embellishment in quilting and patchwork
If you think patchwork is only about fabric and thread, I encourage you to play with other materials to unleash your creativity! Why not try beads, ribbons, or sequins?
Big Stitch binding
If you enjoy finishing your projects with a hand stitch, as I do, but find yourself getting a little bored with just a slip stitch, try a decorative stitch!
Appliqué
I decided to explore different forms of appliqué in 2025. I'm taking an online course from Shannon Brinkley at her school, Art School for Makers, and she leads us through the completion of a mini-project for each technique covered.
